Kings Two Wheel Centre is a family business.
In 1985, Steve & Sandra Polden brought Kings Two Wheel Centre in Kennington, Oxford. It was formerly a part of Kings of Oxford and had connections with the likes of the late great Mike Hailwood.
Steve & Sandra ran the business between them and in 1989, they decided to expand the business and took over an existing motorcycle shop in Cowley, Oxford. They took on members of staff and continued on these premises for 23 years until the opportunity in 2008 came for them to move premises to a better location - this was in Kidlington Oxford.
Their son Craig was working at another motorcycle dealership at the time and they asked him to join them in this new venture. Kings Two Wheel Centre now has 5 members of staff working for them and Sandra & Steve still run the business.
The parts department is managed by Roger Thornton who has been with Kings for 15 years. He can supply those all-important spares for your motorcycle of most brands as well as help you with a new helmet, jacket, gloves or boots purchase or anything else from our extensive range of Suzuki clothing.
The service department is also run by Roger Thornton who has 15 years in the motorcycle trade. Craig Polden is our technician in the workshop and has 16 years experience as a technician as well as experience as a Ducati and Aprilia technician.
The sales department is run by Steve & Sandra Polden. They can supply finance from Black Horse Motor Finance, Close Motor Finance and Moto Novo Finance.
Kings also have a training centre based at their shop which is run by Oxfordshire Motorcycle Training.
Kings Two Wheel Centre has great knowledge of the racing world, on track and off-road racing and are pleased to say that they helped Bradley Smith get into road racing. Steve & Craig have both also done road racing and Craig has now moved onto off-road racing along with Roger our parts manager.
Kings will deliver to all parts of the country, so if you see something you like, you can buy over the phone and they will deliver to you, or in the case of parts - it can be posted.
Here at Kings, we like to offer a friendly, professional service to everyone along with value for money for all our customers - old and new. The coffee machine is always on, so pop in and see them for all your motorcycling needs.
Craig Polden (Son)
Started racing at the age of 5 on a Suzuki RM50 motocross bike, as Craig got older he moved onto a Kawasaki 60 and 85 and then into the 125cc class.
Craig moved onto road racing and took part in the Aprilia Superteen class on an RS125. After some fantastic results at the age of 17, he moved onto the Aprilia RS250 class.
In 2003 Craig took part in the Yamaha R6 Cup, with Cal Crutchlow and Tommy Hill, the best place Craig achieved in the R6 Cup was 6th place at Oulton Park. While Craig was taking part in the R6 Cup we were lent a Winnebago to stay in from the father of a good friend of ours. To say thank you for the loan of this motorhome, we invited the family to a meeting at Donnington Park where they were so impressed with Road Racing that they wanted us to introduce their grandson to the sport, his name was Bradley Smith.
We helped Bradley to get started with the Aprilia Superteen class, and the rest is now history as Bradley is now taking part in Moto GP! We would like to wish him all the best for 2013. Craig has gone back to motocross and he is taking part in GT Cup on a Yamaha YZ125.
Georgina Polden (Daughter)
Started racing at age on a KX65, she progressed onto Suzuki RM85 and 125 she certainly caused a stir with the boys. Georgina has also taken part in the Girls Nationals and has got some good results. Georgina is now riding a Honda CRF250 and is taking part in the GT Cup. Georgina has also taken part in the Weston Super Mare Beach race for the last 5 years and has finished the race every year.
Georgina decided she would like to have a go at road racing, so we took her to Mallory Park to get her road licence and then she went to Brands for a meeting, but she had to go in the 250cc class as they did not have a 125cc class, she improved her times throughout the weekend but as she was on a 125cc it was hard going for her.
At Easter she entered the Aprilia RS125 Superteens at Donnington Park, she certainly took on the challenge, she achieved 3rd novice home on her debut race and finished in top 10 in most of her races. Georgina is now deciding which path to take Motocross or Road Racing.
Our family are very passionate about motorcycling.
