    <title>V-Strom 800RE Tour Joins Suzuki Line-Up</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/v-strom-800re-tour-joins-suzuki-line-up</link>
    <description>
Suzuki has added a V-Strom 800RE Tour to its lineup, which comes with 112 litres of aluminium luggage and a saving of 706.94.

Buyers can choose from either silver or black three-piece luggage, comprising a top box and panniers, and with an OTR price of 11,199, customers will save 706.94 over equipping the standard V-Strom 800RE with the individual accessories.

Available in blue, matt steel green, or black, the V-Strom 800RE Tour expands Suzukis V-Strom 800 range to four models, all of which use the firms new 776cc parallel twin engine with its 270-degree crankshaft design, delivering an abundance of smooth low-down drive and midrange thrust.

The 800RE models come with 19 and 17 cast aluminium wheels and Nissin radial calipers. Aluminium, rubber-covered footpegs are set 14mm further rearward and 7mm higher than the V-Strom 800DE, and aluminium tapered handlebars are 13mm lower and 23mm further forwards. Theyre also 15mm narrower. A taller and wider screen offers more weather and wind protection on longer rides. Like the DE, suspension comes courtesy of Showa, but with a focus on superior on-road performance there is 150mm of travel front and rear.

A bi-directional quickshifter comes as standard, and there are three selectable power modes and three choices of traction control settings, which can also be switched off. All the information is displayed via a colour TFT dash, nestled behind a large, wind-cheating screen.

    <title>New Suzuki GSX-S1000GX and GSX-8R revealed at EICMA</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/new-suzuki-gsx-s1000gx-and-gsx-8r-revealed-at-eicma</link>
    <description>
Suzuki has pulled the covers off two more new models for 2024, with the reveal of a new GSX-S1000GX crossover and GSX-8R middleweight sportsbike today at Eicma, in Milan, Italy.

With the GSX-S1000GX Suzuki steps into a new segment for the first time, offering a new sports crossover machine with a comprehensive suite of electronics.

Electronic suspension from Showa tops a spec sheet that also includes IMU-governed ABS and other braking systems, anti-wheelie, a new Roll Torque Control system, traction control, cruise control, selectable power modes, a bi-directional quickshifter and smartphone connectivity, accessed via a 6.5 colour TFT screen.

A 999cc inline four-cylinder delivers an abundance of power and torque throughout the rev range, peaking at 152PS and 106 Nm.

With an OTR price of 14,499, first customers can have their bikes by Christmas.

Also revealed, the new GSX-8R is the fourth new model to be launched on Suzukis new 776cc parallel twin platform, which features a DOHC and 270 crankshaft design and delivers punchy drive throughout the rev range.

New Showa suspension provides more support and increased damping force over the GSX-8S to account for the increased from weight bias and delivers a controlled, sporty ride.

Lower handlebars also contribute to a sportier riding position, with more of the riders weight over the front end.

The package is wrapped in new, angular, GSX-R-inspired bodywork.

There are selectable power modes, traction control, and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard, with all information displayed on a 5 colour TFT dash.

        GSX-S1000GX

With a design and product concept of the ultimate sports crossover, the GSX-S1000GX is set to become the benchmark in the category, as Suzuki moves into the crossover sector of the market for the first time.

It boasts Suzukis most sophisticated electronics package to date, with a number of new and innovative systems enabled by a six-axis Bosch IMU and electronic suspension from Showa.

The GSX-S1000GX is the first Suzuki to adopt Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES). The GX gets 150mm front and rear suspension travel to create an upright riding position, broadening the riders field of view and providing all-day riding comfort. The longer suspension travel also helps the GX smooth out bumps when riding over uneven surfaces.

There are four selectable modes of SAES: hard, medium, soft, and a customisable user setting which offers +/- three increments on the selected base setting of hard, medium, or soft.

Further helping smooth out those bumps and undulations is Suzuki Road Adaptive Stabilisation (SRAS). An original Suzuki system, in use for the first time on the new GX, it detects uneven road surfaces based on input from the IMU and wheel speed sensors, and, if required, triggers the Suzuki Floating Ride Control (SFRC) to help smooth out the ride. As part of the SFRC it also adjusts the electronic throttle valve settings to deliver softer, more controllable throttle response.

The rear suspensions spring preload settings are also electronically controlled, making it easy for a rider to use a handlebar switch to quickly choose between auto or one of the four available modes they find best suited to their immediate needs or preferences.

Riders can select between single rider, single rider plus luggage, or tandem (with or without luggage). In addition, the preload setting for auto mode can be adjusted by +/- three increments and the three manual modes can be adjusted by +/- four increments to match the riders needs more finely.

The GSX-S1000GX also uses an alpha version of the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector. SDMS- provides three riding modes: active, basic, comfort. Those three integrated riding modes control power output characteristics, as well as the level of traction control, which, on the GX, is integrated with Lift Limiter (anti-wheelie) and Roll Torque Control, and electronic suspension settings. Riders can opt to use the default settings of many of those systems or customise them to match their needs or preferences more closely. There are seven selectable modes of traction control integrated with Roll Torque Control and Lift Limiter and three selectable throttle maps.

Making its debut on the GX is Suzukis new Roll Torque Control. Based on data received from the IMU and wheel speed sensors, this new system calculates the bikes lean angle and speed to predetermine what level of power output and acceleration is optimal at that time, for example, when exciting a corner. It then reduces torque output before the motorcycle exceeds the amount of power the system deems necessary to clear the corner effectively. One key benefit of this system is a smooth operation and uninterrupted drive. With regular traction control the system is reactive, cutting in when rear wheel slip is detected. This can create a jerkiness or on and off feeling as the power comes in and out. It can also cause the rear suspension to compress and rebound. This is reduced significantly with the introduction of Roll Torque Control, as the torque ceiling is set, and then raised as the bike exits the corner and as speed increases and lean angle decreases. It is an extra layer of pre-emptive protection that operates silently in the background, with its settings determined by the level of traction control selected.

Completing the GXs comprehensive suite of electronics is a ride-by-wire throttle, bi-directional quickshifter, cruise control updated on the GX to allow the system to continue operating when the rider changes gear lean angle-sensitive ABS, Slope Dependent Control, which prevents rear wheel lift when braking downhill, easy start, and low RPM assist.

Monitoring all of the GSX-S1000GXs electronic systems is done via a 6.5-inch colour TFT screen, which also offers smartphone connectivity, allowing riders to access maps, view contacts and make and receive phone calls, see their calendar, and play music. All this is done via the free Suzuki mySPIN app. A USB socket in the side of the instrument cluster makes for easy phone charging.

Powering the new GSX-S1000GX is Suzukis creamy smooth, 999cc, inline four-cylinder, superbike-derived engine. Known for its abundance of lowdown and midrange power, it produces 152PS at 11,000rpm and 106 Nm of torque at 9,250rpm.

That engine is housed in a twin spar, aluminium frame mated to a race-proven aluminium swingarm from the GSX-R range and a lightweight subframe.

All of that is wrapped in new, aggressive bodywork, with full LED lighting front and rear. Hand guards and a spacious luggage rack add extra practicality. Luggage capacity can be increased with genuine accessory 36-litre panniers.

With an OTR price of 14,499, the GSX-S1000GX is available to order now, with first customers able to take delivery in time for Christmas. It will come in Suzukis trademark Metallic Triton Blue, Glass Sparkle Black and a new Pearl Matt Shadow Green

        GSX-8R

Immediately highlighting the R element of the new GSX-8R is its full fairing, wind tunnel-tested to increase aerodynamic performance and provide weather protection for the rider. Bold 8R logos adorn the side panels, while fairing-mounted mirrors also aid in reducing drag.

Perched in the middle of the angular face is the recognisably GSX series stacked LED headlight, topped by an LED position light. The rear combination light is also full LED, as are the indicators.

At the heart of the new GSX-8R is the 776cc parallel twin engine which it shares with the GSX-8S with its long stroke and 270 crankshaft design providing an abundance of low-down torque, usability, and flexibility, while a free-revving nature comes from a DOHC and four valves per cylinder. Peak torque is 78 Nm, delivered at 6800rpm, with peak power of 82.9PS coming at 8500rpm.

The 270 crankshaft also provides a power delivery, character, and rumble reminiscent of Suzukis much-lauded V-twin ranges, while a patented cross balancer design ensures a smoothness, as well as aiding in a compact, lightweight engine design.

A two-into-one exhaust system with dual-stage catalytic converter keeps the 8R conforming to Euro 5 emissions standards, and ends in a short, underslung silencer further enhancing the compact, slimline look.

All of that is housed in a steel frame engineered for direct handling characteristics. Those handling characteristics are further enhanced by low, forged aluminium handlebars that provide positive control and a sporty riding position, placing more of the riders weight over the front wheel. Bolted into the rear of the steel frame is a lightweight aluminium subframe and lightweight aluminium swingarm,

Dealing with the increased weight bias towards the front, Showa provides the suspension, with SFF-BP* (Separate Function Fork Big Piston) inverted forks and monoshock in the rear. Mounted radially to the forks are Nissin four-piston calipers, providing stopping power by biting 310mm discs. Tyres are Dunlop Roadsport 2s.

Aiding rideability, usability, and flexibility is a suite of electronic systems that includes a bi-directional quickshifter as standard, three selectable engine power modes, and three selectable traction control settings, plus the ability to disengage the system entirely. <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/get-the-right-winter-blues-with-2-9offer-from-suzuki</link>
    <description>
It might be getting colder but Suzuki is making it easier to get the right sort of winter blues by offering 2.9% APR finance on a number of models. Available over four years on both PCP and HP, the offer includes the Hayabusa including the new 25th anniversary edition both the V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050DE, the GSX-S1000, and both the GSX-S1000GT and GT+.

Theres also 500 off the GSX-R125 and GSX-S125, plus 750 worth of free accessories available on the V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050DE. All three offers run until 31 January 2024.

As a part of the 2.9% finance deal, the flagship, 25th anniversary special edition Hayabusa complete with its legendary 1340cc inline four-cylinder engine, sophisticated electronics package that includes power modes, cornering ABS, traction control, anti-wheelie, a bi-directional quickshifter, multiple engine braking settings, launch control, and cruise control, and striking bodywork can be ridden for 149 per month on a four-year PCP deal, with a 4,210.48 deposit.

Or, those looking to cover big miles on a big adventure bike can pick up the V-Strom 1050, with its similarly all encompassing suite of electronics, DR Big-inspired style, and punchy 1037cc V-twin motor, for 109 per month over the same period with a 2,711.30 deposit, while also equipping it with their choice of complementary extras.

New riders or those looking for the perfect tool to tackle city congestion and keep running costs to a minimum can also enjoy 500 off the GSX-S125 and GSX-R125.

Jonathan Martin, Suzuki GB head of motorcycles, said, The clocks have gone back, the nights have drawn in, and the temperatures have dropped, but its still a good time for riders to put a new Suzuki in the garage for less this winter. We understand that monthly payments remain key for our customers and by offering an incredibly low 2.9% through the winter we believe more customers will take advantage now and not wait until spring to ride away on a new Suzuki.

<title>Pricing and availability of 25th anniversary Hayabusa announced</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/pricing-and-availability-of-25th-anniversary-hayabusa-announced</link>
    <description>
Suzuki has announced that the special edition Hayabusa, launched to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the legendary hyperbike, is available in dealerships now with an OTR price of 18,599, and will also be available on 2.9% APR finance on PCP or HP.

The anniversary edition, launched to celebrate a quarter of a century of an icon after the first generation Hayabusa changed the game in 1999, comes in a head-turning glass blaze orange and glass sparkle black, and with a list of standout features including: special anniversary logo on the fuel tank and laser-etched into the twin exhaust mufflers, gold-anodised brake disc carriers and drive chain adjusters, raised Suzuki lettering on the fuel tank, a standard-fit single seat cowl in addition to the pillion pad, and new gloss black trim.

Underneath, it packs the same torque-rich, 1340cc inline four-cylinder engine as the current third generation Hayabusa, which produces more cumulative power and torque than any of its predecessors. Thanks to a heavily redesigned engine for 2021 with new pistons, conrods, crankshaft and camshaft the latest iteration of the Hayabusa is the fastest-launching one yet.

Helping that cause is a comprehensive suite of electronics that features three launch control settings, 10 traction control modes, and three power modes, plus lean-angle sensitive ABS, three levels of engine brake settings, cruise control, hill hold, low RPM assist, and easy-start.

Launched in 1999 the original Hayabusa stunned the motorcycling world and gave birth to the hypersport category. Taking its name from the Japanese for Peregrine falcon famed for feasting on blackbirds it delivered unrivalled performance, was immediately recognisable thanks to its now-iconic silhouette, and went on to develop cult status.

The launch of the second generation Hayabusa in 2008 boosted capacity and power, while a mid-term update in 2013 added Brembo monobloc calipers and ABS. The third generation was launched in 2021, after 200,000 units had been sold worldwide.

Suzuki GB head of motorcycles, Jonathan Martin, said, There arent many if any motorcycles that can boast the same sort of history, legacy, and standing that the Hayabusa does. Its not hyperbole to call it an icon, or game-changing, or legendary; it is all of those things. It really is in a class of one, and moving into its 25th year, customers can own a piece of history with this special edition, and to make it even easier to do so were pleased to be able to launch it with a low finance rate of 2.9% on PCP or HP.

    <title>New V-Strom 800RE joins V-Strom 800DE to enhance Suzuki’s adventure bike lineup</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/new-v-strom-800re-joins-v-strom-800de-to-enhance-suzukis-adventure-bike-lineup</link>
    <description>
Following the launch of its all-new V-Strom 800DE earlier this year, Suzuki has announced a new V-Strom 800RE that will further expand its adventure bike stable, ensuring the V-Strom range is truly ready for any terrain, any horizon, any adventure.

Born to roam, the V-Strom 800RE will provide a more road-focussed offering than its more off-road-ready sibling. With DE denoting the V-Strom 800DEs positioning as a dual explorer, the adoption of RE for the latest V-Strom 800 model highlights its abilities as the road explorer.

Arriving in November, the new V-Strom 800RE will come with an OTR price of 9,699.

At its heart, the new V-Strom 800RE uses the same new 776cc parallel twin engine as its stablemate, with its double overhead cam and 270 crankshaft design delivering a broad spread of torque throughout the rev range peaking at 78Nm at 6800rpm and a rumble and character more akin to Suzukis famed V-twins. Peak power is 84.3PS at 8500rpm.

It also uses the same steel main frame, engineered for a balance of straight-line stability and agile handling. The narrow steel tubes also help maximise fuel tank capacity, which comes in at 20 litres. However, the new V-Strom 800RE differs from its more rugged counterpart most notably by swapping 21 and 17 spoked wheels and tubed tyres for 19 and 17 cast aluminium wheels, wearing Dunlop tubeless tyres.

Like the V-Strom 800DE, high quality suspension is still provided by Showa, but with a focus on delivering superior on-road performance. 150mm of travel at the front and rear comes courtesy of preload-adjustable inverted front forks and a link-type monoshock adjustable for preload and rebound damping, delivering sure-footed roadholding and a plush ride for long days in the saddle. Stopping power comes from radially-mounted four piston Nissin calipers.

Further underlying the V-Strom 800REs prowess as the tool to explore all roads it comes with a seat height of 825mm, while aluminium, rubber-covered footpegs are set 14mm further rearward and 7mm higher than the V-Strom 800DE, and aluminium tapered handlebars are 13mm lower and 23mm further forwards. Theyre also 15mm narrower. A taller and wider screen offers more weather and wind protection on longer rides.

Nestled underneath the screen is a 5 colour TFT screen with dual display modes for day and nighttime riding. All the navigation of menus and features is done via a simple, easy-to-use rocker switch on the left-hand handlebar. Theres also a handy USB port located on the left-hand side.

Displayed on the bright, clear screen is all the information required by the rider, including the current setting selected from its three-mode traction control system which can also be switched off and the current power mode selected, from Active (the more sportier and direct throttle map), Basic (ideal for cruising or city riding), and Comfort (perfect for wet or cold conditions). There are also two ABS settings, providing differing levels of intervention.

A ride-by-wire throttle connection provides a natural feel and connection to the rear wheel, while a standard-fit bi-directional quickshifter allied to a slipper clutch makes gear changes slick and seamless. Theres also Suzukis low rpm assist and easy start function.

Sharing a similar DR Big-inspired look as the 800DE, complete with iconic beak and full LED lighting front and rear, the V-Strom 800RE will come in Pearl Vigor Blue, Metallic Matt Steel Green, and Glass Sparkle Black.

There will also be a full suite of genuine accessories available including a choice of three-piece aluminium or plastic luggage, heated grips, and a centre stand.

    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/gold-star-named-retro-bike-of-the-year-at-coveted-mcn-awards</link>
    <description>
The new Gold Star from BSA Motorcycles has been named Retro Bike of the Year 2023 by MCN (Motorcycle News), the biggest motorcycle publication in the UK.

The award comes just months after the brand announced expansion across Europe with the Gold Star now available in France and Luxembourg. The award recognises the impact of BSAs reimagined classic model just a couple of years since it was relaunched to the UK market.

MCNs yearly awards encompass 13 categories, paying homage to various aspects of the motorcycling world. Winners are voted for by a specialist panel of experts, comprised of seasoned journalists and motorcycle aficionados. Their assessment encompasses factors such as sales trajectory, reader and customer feedback, design finesse, technical ingenuity, and comprehensive performance, culminating in the selection of an ultimate victor within each category.

Speaking of the win, Ashish Joshi, CEO, Classic Legends, and Director of BSA Company Ltd, commented: The Classic category is renowned for its fierce competition, so we consider it quite a coup to take this prize home. When we redesigned and relaunched the Gold Star, it wasnt simply about bringing back a motorcycle brand but about reawakening an emotion. BSA left an indelible mark on global motorcycling and the Gold Star enables us to resurrect the brand while remaining authentic to its roots.

To have the Gold Star named Retro Bike of the Year, amid such stiff competition confirms that we are achieving our objectives. The next step is to take BSA to the rest of the world.

The Gold Star model, a tribute to BSAs rich heritage, has captivated the hearts of motorcycle enthusiasts with its blend of classic aesthetics and contemporary performance. As winner of the MCN Retro Bike of the Year 2023, it stands proudly alongside illustrious past recipients, including the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and the Kawasaki Z900RS.

British designer Bal Ghataore, head of design at BSA Motorcycles, added: The UK team has done a great job of helping to bring the new Gold Star to market and getting it into the hands of customers. The Retro Bike of the Year award is a significant achievement, and it highlights our dedication to delivering innovative and appealing choices to classic bike aficionados worldwide.

    <title>Suzuki launches Service Activated Warranty</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/suzuki-launches-service-activated-warranty</link>
    <description>
Suzuki has launched a new Service Activated Warranty, which extends a motorcycles warranty period after the initial three years through regular servicing at authorised Suzuki dealerships.

The Service Activated Warranty is offered once the motorcycle reaches the end of its manufacturer warranty period of three years, and is booked in for its next scheduled service within the Suzuki Dealer network. This warranty then stays in place until the next qualifying service. It is then simply renewed again, up to a maximum vehicle age of seven years or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The Service Activated Warranty is offered to customers completely free of charge.

All major components are covered, and should the machine be sold between services and within the seven-year qualifying period, the warranty will simply be transferred to the new owner.

The Service Activity Warranty can also be enjoyed by owners of secondhand machines, even if any original warranty has expired and if there is a gap in the service history. Providing the new owner has their motorcycle serviced at a Suzuki dealership and goes through a Suzuki Motorcycle Health Check in the first instance, it will benefit from a fresh, one-year warranty.

For these customers, the Service Activated Warranty will begin 30 days from the date the authorised Suzuki Dealer service has been completed.

Denis Houston, Director Aftersales at Suzuki GB, said, At Suzuki, customer experience and retention are paramount, the launch of Service Activated Warranty will certainly enhance this for the future, ensuring our customers get the best levels of service, fitment of genuine parts and avail of the expertise within our dealer network rather than going to a non-franchised repairer once their manufacturer warranty expires. Offering Service Activated Warranty is free of charge to owners, is unique, and we are very proud to offer this as a strong message in support of our customers.

The new-from-the-ground-up GSX-8S has a long-stroke 776cc parallel twin engine at its heart, with a 270 crank, designed to deliver punchy torque and a flexible character, while four valves per cylinder and a double overhead cam enable a free-revving nature.

With the GSX-8S born to thrill, that engine is wrapped in an all-new frame, with a separate tubular steel subframe, aluminium swingarm, 43mm upside down front forks and rear shock from KYB, lightweight aluminium wheels, shod with 120 front and 180 rear Dunlops and wide, tapered, aluminium bars providing a blend of stable roadholding and agility and flickability. <title>Pricing for All-New V-Strom 800DE Announced</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/pricing-for-all-new-v-strom-800de-announced</link>
    <description>Pricing for the most off-road ready V-Strom yet, the all-new V-Strom 800DE, has been announced at 10,499.

Powered by Suzukis new 776cc, long-stroke, DOHC, parallel twin with a 270 crank, the V-Strom 800DE is born to explore and is equipped with a host of electronic rider aids and chassis features designed to help it tackle the rough stuff, as well as ensure it remains capable and usable on the road, too.

Suzukis new powerplant delivers 84.3PS peak power at 8500rpm and 78Nm of peak torque at 6800rpm in the new V-Strom, though riders can choose their preferred power delivery thanks to three selectable engine maps, controlled by a rocker switch on the left handlebar and displayed on a 5-inch colour TFT screen.

Also displayed on the dash in the selected traction control mode, with three on-road modes available to choose from and a G mode, for use off-road, that allows more wheelspin, which is suppressed only enough to help prevent excessive slip, so power continues to be delivered to the rear wheel with minimum interruption. It can also be disengaged completely.

There are also two ABS settings, providing greater or lesser intervention, plus there is the ability to disengage the rear ABS for improved confidence and control off-road, and a bi-directional quickshifter for seamless gear changes.

A new steel frame with bolt-on subframe and aluminium swingarm is suspended by fully-adjustable Showa components providing 220mm of travel and ground clearance. That ground clearance also comes courtesy of 21 and 17-inch wire-spoked wheels, front and back, running tubed Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour tyres. Wide aluminium bars and tough steel footpegs are designed to provide greater control when stood up off-road.

All this is wrapped in unmistakable a new, sharper, taughter incarnation of V-Strom stylinge, complete with a DR-Z-esque beak, and comes in the classic yellow that pays homage to Suzukis off-road racing heritage. The V-Strom 800DE is also available in a striking matt grey, with yellow accents, and subtle black, with blue.

    <title>BSA is back</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/bsa-is-back</link>
    <description>
BSA Company Ltd. has announced the return of the iconic British motorcycle brand BSA Motorcycles, with a brand-new model set to launch at the beginning of December. The all-new modern classic motorcycle will be unveiled to the public at the Motorcycle Live show on 4 December 2021. Further details about the new model will be revealed at the show, which means BSA afficionados will have to wait just a little longer to lay their hands on the much-anticipated motorcycle.

Standing for Birmingham Small Arms Company Ltd, BSA was founded in 1861, for the production of firearms. The brands motorcycle division was set up in 1903, and the first motorcycle was introduced in 1910. The brand went on to become the largest supplier of motorcycles to the Allied Forces during the Second World War. By the 1950s, BSA was the worlds largest motorcycle maker, with one in every four motorcycles sold worldwide sporting the BSA badge. The company also enjoyed phenomenal success on the race track, with notable victories at Daytona and Santa Catalina.

Over the course of the century, BSA carved out a hallowed name among motorcycle enthusiasts, with legendary nameplates such as the Golden Flash, Bantam, Lightning, Firebird and Gold Star becoming cult favourites.

While operations ceased in the 1970s, BSA Company Ltd. was given a new lease of life in October 2016, when the BSA Motorcycles brand and the rights to the motorcycle business were acquired by the Mahindra Group, a renowned automobile manufacturer.

The new petrol-engine motorcycle is now ready to hit the roads, and will be officially launched at the Motorcycle Live show, held between 4-12 December at NEC Birmingham, Hall 4, Stand 4D10.

Earlier this year, BSA Company Ltd. was also awarded a 4.6 million grant by the UK Government for the development of zero-emission motorcycles, as part of the low-carbon automotive initiative.

<title>Suzuki boosts small capacity range with three new scooters</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/suzuki-boosts-small-capacity-range-with-three-new-scooters</link>
<description>Suzuki has given its small capacity range a boost with the unveiling of three new 125cc scooters, with the new Address 125, Avenis 125, and Burgman Street 125EX revealed today at Intermot in Cologne, Germany.

All three are engineered to provide comfort, practicality, and outstanding urban performance while also delivering excellent levels of economy and efficiency, but they do so in their own way and with their own style, giving customers the option to enjoy their city, their way.

Engine

The proven Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) engine sits at the heart of all three machines, though the Burgman Street 125EX uses the latest lpha iteration. The air-cooled, single-cylinder powerplant currently powers over five million Suzukis worldwide, and is the forward-looking engine development concept from Suzuki, which results in an outstanding level of environmentally responsible performance, both in terms of low fuel consumption and low emissions.

All three models achieve an impressive 148.67mpg figure and produce just 44g/km of CO2 emissions. At the same time, they still deliver powerful acceleration, with peak horsepower and maximum torque delivered at low rpm.

For the Avenis 125 and Address 125 this is 8.7PS at 6,750rpm and 10Nm at 5,500rpm. The Burgman Street 125EXs peak power of 8.6PS comes in at 6,500rpm, while peak torque remains the same.

The Burgman Street 125EX, equipped with the SEP- engine, benefits from extra features which enhance the user experience while at the same time achieving a high levels of fuel economy and quiet operation, including Engine Auto Stop-Start (EASS), a new idling stop system, and Suzukis new Silent Start System.

Address 125

Inspired by traditional scooter design, the Address 125 boasts classic city style, with curves and attractive body lines punctuated by chrome accents, completed with the classic rounded headlight, which is full LED, as are the position lights and integrated indicators. Theres also a tail-mounted cap, finished in chrome, designed to facilitate easy refuelling and ensure there is no risk of spillages on the floorboard or bags.

The classic style also extends to the clocks, with an analogue speedometer sat atop a digital display. Wrapping around the speedometer is a handy eco indicator, which illuminates green when the Address 125 is being ridden in an economical manner, encouraging fuel efficient riding. Starting is easy with one push of the button enough to start the engine, thanks to Suzukis Easy Start System.

21.8 litres of underseat storage give plenty of storage space, plus an upfront storage pocket gives easy access to frequently used items, above which sits a USB charger for smartphones. Dual utility hooks provide extra security for transporting bags or other items. There are also two underseat hooks which can secure helmets when parked, which is made even simpler thanks to centre and side stands coming as standard.

While parked a shutter concealing the ignition key hole provides additional security. To open, an easy-to-operate magnet mechanism is coded to the owners key. It also includes a seat opener that eliminates the need to remove the key to access the underseat utility compartment.

With a ready-to-ride weight of 105kg it is easy to handle and highly manoeuvrable. The Address underbone frame is built using large-diameter, thin, round tubes, designed to minimise weight while maximising rigidity and also to provide excellent straight-line stability and positive cornering performance.

Stopping power comes from a 190mm diameter disc brake in the front and a 120mm drum brake in the rear, while a combined braking system ensures a stable braking performance by distributing force to both the front and rear wheels when the left brake lever is operated.

The Address 125 rides on a short wheelbase that contributes to ease of manoeuvrability and works in conjunction with the light, slim design to offer easier, more agile handling. The slim design, low seat height and seat shape help make it easy to place both feet on the ground.

Avenis 125

Providing sporty city fun, the Avenis 125 aims to balance performance, style, and practicality; sharp, aggressive looks complement edgy, and dynamic lines, with an upswept tail section and stylish front cowling with floating meter visor. Lighting comes from an aggressive, stacked-lens body-mounted LED headlight, plus vertically-oriented LED position lights add a striking accent to the face.

Distinctive graphics on the sides of the front cowl highlight the scooters aggressive attitude, and black metallic-finish emblems add a sophisticated touch.

A sporty two-tone seat with attractive red stitching is firm yet comfortable, with ample padding and a richly textured surface that provides a secure grip when riding. In addition, its carefully crafted shape makes it easy for the rider to put both feet on the ground when stopped, along with cutaway footboards.

A digital instrument panel for the Avenis 125 features a compact LCD screen with a clean and intuitive layout, and it also gets a handy eco indicator light to highlight fuel efficient operation by the rider.

The chassis comprises an underbone frame that contributes to the Avenis 125s fuel efficiency, excellent straight-line stability, and positive cornering performance. As well as a short wheelbase and semi-soft front suspension settings that provide a smooth and comfortable ride, along with a rear shock that is finely tuned to deliver solid road-holding performance, and agile handling.

Similar to the Address 125, Suzukis Combined Brake System supports well-balanced braking by distributing braking force to both the front and rear wheels when the left brake lever is operated. Hardware features a 190mm diameter disc brake at the front and a 120mm drum brake at the rear.

Practicality comes from 21.5 litres of underseat storage - with two helmet hooks - dual utility hooks for carrying extra items, an open upfront pocket and one shutable compartment housing a USB charging port. Like the Address 125, a shutter concealing the ignition key hole can be opened quickly, using an easy-to-operate magnet mechanism coded to the owners key. Theres also a standard fit centre stand a side stand. Riders can also lock the rear brake via a switch on the left lever, when parking.

Burgman Street 125EX

The Burgman Street 125EX is the smart city commuter, tailored to excel and brings a new level of elegant style and performance. It stands out with its fusion of class, style, performance, comfort, practicality, and convenience.

Comfort is taken care of with a long, well-padded seat. Generously proportioned floorboards allow flexibility in foot positioning to maintain a comfortable riding position, while extended footboards up front let the rider extend their legs for greater comfort when cruising.

The look of luxury and sophistication is created with elegant lines and a sense of volume from its striking bodywork to the red stitching on the seat, distinctive lighting and integrated turn signals, and attention to detail.

A clean LCD dash displays information to the rider, including the eco indicator light, as well as an indicator for the Engine Auto Stop-Start (EASS).

Like the Avenis, there are 21.5 litres of underseat storage and two helmet hooks, plus two utility hooks for carrying extra items. It also features a closable front compartment with a USB charging port and an additional easy access front storage compartment, next to which is the ignition key slot which can be covered using a magnet mechanism coded to the owners key.

A longer wheelbase provides impeccable great straight line stability and gives a solid, planted feel and comfortable ride. A firmer suspension setup for the front suspension helps achieve a smooth ride quality, with the spring rate and operation of the front forks optimised for the front wheel weight distribution. Settings for both the forks and rear suspension are finely tuned to the tyres and wheels to achieve a fine balance of stability, road-holding performance, agile handling, and a comfortable ride, even when passing over uneven surfaces.

With a longer wheelbase, strong braking performance is maintained thanks to a larger diameter drum brake, at 130mm. It also gets a combined brake system to modulate braking force between the front and rear wheels when using the left brake lever.

<title>Akrapovič Silencers Form Performance Accessory Pack For Hayabusa</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/akrapovisilencers-form-performance-accessory-pack-for-hayabusa</link>
<description>Suzuki has launched a new Performance accessory pack for its Hayabusa hypersport machine, which comes with an RRP of 2,599, representing a saving of 1,112 over the cost of the individual items.

The standout accessory in the kit is a pair of titanium Akrapovi silencers, which save a total of 4kg and boost power by 2kW, as well as enhancing the soundtrack. Capped with a carbon fibre tip and featuring a carbon fibre heat shield, the silencers are finished with a classy, laser-etched Akrapovi and Hayabusa logos.

Billet aluminium brake and clutch levers replace the original items, with extra style coming from a colour-coded pillion seat cowl, an accessory seat with Hayabusa logo and red stitching, plus a tank pad also adorned with a Hayabusa logo in a choice of gold or red, to suit the bikes colour.

The Performance accessory pack can be fitted at the time of purchase, meaning it can also be incorporated into any finance deal, spreading the cost monthly, and benefits from the same three-year-warranty.

With an RRP of 16,499, the third generation Hayabusa uses a heavily redesigned engine including new pistons, conrods, crankshaft, and camshaft specifically aimed at producing enhanced performance in the lower to mid rev ranges, making it the fastest-launching Hayabusa yet with more cumulative torque than its predecessor.

It gets Suzukis most advanced suite of electronics ever, with 10 lean angle-sensitive traction control modes, lean angle-sensitive ABS, three power modes, a bi-directional quickshifter, cruise control and a speed limiter, and three stages of launch control, all controlled via easy-to-use switchgear and managed through a neat colour TFT display, nestled between two analogue dials reminiscent of the original Hayabusas clocks.

Design cues from the original also extend to the bodywork, which is sharper and more angular but nonetheless immediately recognisable as Hayabusa.

    <title>Suzuki 2022 Katana - The Evolution of an icon</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/suzuki-2022-katana-the-evolution-of-an-icon</link>
<description>Suzuki has sharpened its Katana for 2022, with the updated machine getting more power and an improved suite of electronics.

Based on the new-for-2021 GSX-S1000 platform, the new, Euro5 Katana produces 152PS at 11,000rpm and a broader spread of torque across the rev range than the preceding model, thanks to a new intake and exhaust camshaft, new valve springs, new exhaust, and a new airbox. All this is delivered smoothly via a new ride-by-wire throttle.

That smooth power delivery can be further controlled thanks to the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector system, with three selectable engine maps; all three deliver the same peak power, with mode A providing the sharpest, sportiest response, mode B a softer initial power delivery, and mode C delivering the softest response, ideal in wet and slippery conditions.

A bi-directional quickshifter makes swift work of gear changes and enhances performance on sporty rides, and there are five modes of traction control to choose from to keep things in check. Traction control can also be turned off.

Added controllability and increased performance also comes thanks to a new Suzuki Clutch Assist System, with a slipper clutch that mitigates the effect of engine braking when downshifting from high rpm.

Completing the electronics package is Suzukis handy easy start system and low RPM assist, which raises engine speed as the clutch lever is fed out, to aid slow speed control and prevent stalling.

The new Katana uses the same lightweight, twin-spar aluminium frame and GSX-R-derived swingarm, with fully-adjustable KYB front forks and a preload and rebound damping adjustable rear shock. Brembo monobloc calipers bite 310mm front discs, mounted to six-spoke, cast aluminium wheels shod with Dunlop SPORTMAX Roadsport2 tyres, custom engineered for Suzukis GSX-S platform.

The 2022 Katana will also come in new colours, with the sharp, angular bodywork that so obviously takes design cues from the original machine from the 1980s now finished in a dark matt blue, complemented by gold forks and wheels, while a dark grey iteration is set off by red wheels. A revised dash gets a new red night mode.

It will be available in spring 2022.

    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/suzuki-releases-new-colours-for-v-strom-650-range</link>
<description>Suzuki has released new colour options for its ever-popular V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 650XT middleweight adventure machines.

The base model V-Strom 650 will continue to be available in the pearl brilliant white with its blue graphic on the beak, and for 2022 will be joined by a reversed option, which sees pearl vigour blue bodywork offset by white decals. A glass sparkle black scheme, with its black cast aluminium wheels, provides an understate all-black option, topped with a striking yellow beak graphic.

Suzuki&#039;s trademark yellow - synonymous with its off-road racing heritage - will remain available on the V-Strom 650XT, with RM-Z-inspired blue and grey graphics on the beak and tank. The look is completed with gold spoked rims.

The same gold rims feature on a white variant of the XT, while a classy, new-for-2022 blue paint scheme and an all-black with blue and grey graphics get treated to blue rims.

Both versions of the V-Strom 650 use the proven 645cc V-twin engine, packed with character and a broad spread of power and get traction control, Suzuki&#039;s easy start system and low RPM assist.

The XT swaps cast aluminium wheels for lightweight spoked alternatives, and adds hand guards and a lower cowling as standard.

    <title>Suzuki savings are here</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/suzuki-savings-are-here</link>
    <description>
Suzuki has announced three summer saving deals, running until the end of September and covering much of the on road range.

Worth exploring

Available on the V-Strom 1050XT and V-Strom 1050XT Tour, plus the V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 650XT, the worth exploring offer combines a lower rate of finance 3.9% APR representative available on either a PCP or HP deal over three years with 500 worth of free accessories.

The V-Strom accessory catalogue includes three-piece aluminium luggage which comes as standard fitment on the V-Strom 1050XT Tour heated grips, touring screens, engine bars, and sump guards.

As part of the offer the already well-equipped V-Strom 1050XT Tour can be had for 142 per month over a three-year PCP deal with a 2000 deposit or trade-in.

The V-Strom 1050XTs boast a 1037cc V-twin engine delivering 107PS and bags of torque, plus three selectable engine maps, traction control with three modes, lean angle-sensitive ABS with two modes, linked brakes with slope and load-dependent control and hill hold, and cruise control. Theres also low RPM assist and Suzukis easy start system. Practicality comes from a height-adjustable seat and screen, 12V socket and USB port, centre stand, hand guards, and spoked wheels.

The V-Strom 650 uses Suzukis proven 645cc V-twin engine, packed with character and a broad spread of usable torque, and also features a traction control system, low RPM assist, and the easy start system.

        To get your pulse racing

A similar three-year, 3.9% APR representative offer also on PCP or HP is available on the GSX-R1000R, including the limited edition 100th anniversary model, and the GSX-S750. This time the deal is sweetened with a 500 off test ride incentive.

With 500 off the RRP, the GSX-R1000R anniversary edition complete in the same livery as Joan Mirs MotoGP world title-winning GSX-RR is available for 169 per month over a three-year PCP deal with a 2,730.61 deposit.

A 200PS motor sits at the heart of the GSX-R1000R, which inherits the same variable valve timing system as the world championship-winning GSX-RR. It uses a comprehensive suite of performance enhancing electronics including a quickshifter and autoblipper, launch control, lean angle-sensitive traction control and ABS. There are also three power modes, easy start, and low RPM assist.

The GSX-S750 uses a 749cc inline-four cylinder that started life in the iconic GSX-R750 and delivers a smooth, linear power delivery, and gets traction control, low RPM assist, and Suzuki easy start, all wrapped in an agile chassis and sharp, streetfighter styling.

        Hand crafted just for you

The third summer saving offer from Suzuki this season is the continuation of the 0% APR representative deal available on the Katana.

Requiring a minimum deposit of 500, customers can enjoy the Katana over a three-year HP deal. And with just 500 put down, it can be ridden for 310 per month. However, being a HP deal, there is no final balloon payment.

The fresh take on the iconic machine from the 80s uses a torque-rich, 999cc inline-four cylinder engine kept in check with a three-mode traction control system a twin-spar aluminium chassis and superbike-derived swingarm. This is all packed in angular, aggressively styled bodywork that also remains unmistakably Katana.

    <title>Suzuki announces new A2-friendly GSX-S950</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/suzuki-announces-new-a2-friendly-gsx-s950</link>
<description>Suzuki has announced details of a new A2 licence-friendly GSX-S950, which is available from August and features the ability to be restricted to 35kW to comply with A2 licence regulations. The GSX-S950 will represent a new proposition in the market, providing a big bike experience at a restricted output for new riders, before becoming an ideal stepping stone to more powerful machines once derestricted.

Based on the GSX-S1000 platform and using the same torque-laden inline-four cylinder engine the GSX-S950 produces 95PS in standard trim, with restrictor kits readily available to ensure it conforms to the A2 licence category. However, despite a reduced peak power compared to its GSX-S1000 sibling, the 950 still makes use of the donor engines creamy midrange to produce 92 Nm of peak torque, with the same slip and assist clutch aiding smoother downshifts and slicker upshifts under hard acceleration.

The motor is also wrapped in the same twin-spar aluminium frame and uses the same superbike-derived swingarm and rear shock, but to help achieve a lower RRP and therefore making it an even more accessible package it uses 43mm KYB front forks. Other chassis changes include the use of Tokico front brake calipers and straight bars, while the bespoke Dunlop Roadsport 2 tyres, 19-litre fuel tank, and new seat remain.

An electronics package comprises a three-mode traction control system that adds a safety net, while convenience comes from Suzukis low RPM assist feature and easy start function. The ride-by-wire throttle from the GSX-S1000 is carried over.

Bodywork replicates the new, aggressive, and angular styling of the GSX-S1000, with the same stacked LED headlights front and centre. The taillight is also full LED.

    <title>Suzuki announces updated Burgman 400</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/suzuki-announces-updated-burgman-400</link>
<description>Suzuki has announced details of an updated Burgman 400, with the now Euro 5 compliant version of the original maxi-scooter boasting traction control, Suzukis Easy Start System, and updated instrument cluster, plus changes to its 400cc single-cylinder engine including a new twin-plug cylinder head, piston, and injectors.

Launched in 1998, the Burgman 400 carved out a new market for large displacement scooters, combining comfort, power, style, and practicality. Updated for the 2006 and 2018 model years, the latest iteration further improves on the proven and solid platform.

A revised engine produces well balanced low-midrange torque with improved throttle control, courtesy of a number of changes.

A new twin-plug cylinder head with simultaneous ignition timing provides strong power delivery, increases combustion efficiency, and aids fuel consumption. As an added bonus, adjusted ignition timing also results in easier engine startup and a more stable idle. The change additionally contributes to high combustion speed and reduces the possibility of engine knocking in the upper speed range. Consequently, ignition timing can be set to a timing at which power is produced more easily, thereby increasing top speed. A new secondary air pathway helps meet Euro 5 emissions standards.

There are revised cam profiles, and the injectors have changed from 16-hole to 10-hole injectors, resulting in more miniscule fuel droplets and increased air agitation, improving fuel consumption. A new catalytic converter increases the number of catalysts from one to two, further purifying exhaust gases.

One of the biggest changes to the updated Burgman 400 comes in the form of a traction control system, which benefits riding in slippery conditions and pulling away briskly from a complete stop. Meanwhile stopping is helped with a new ABS unit, which is also 36g lighter than the previous unit.

Practicality is maintained through 42 litres of underseat storage, plus an additional 6.3 litres of storage thanks to compartments upfront, the right hand side of which also houses a 12V socket for charging electronic devices.

The addition of Suzukis Easy Start System requires just one brush of the starter button to fire the engine, removing the need to hold the button down.

Cutaway footboards make it easier to get feet flat on the floor, and a plush seat with adjustable lumbar support makes for a comfortable ride. LED running lights, headlights, and taillights provide excellent nighttime visibility, while also enhancing the maxi-scooters stylish design.

Security features come in the form of Suzukis Advanced Immobiliser System (SAIS) and a magnetic cover that protects the ignition barrel and opens only for the owners key. A chain gate allows the rider to pass a chain lock through the bodywork, around the frame, and then around a pole or other immovable object.

The updated Burgman 400 will be available from authorised Suzuki dealerships in the summer, and will come in matte silver, matte black, and iron grey, all complete with blue rims.

    <title>New colours for V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050XT revealed</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/new-colours-for-v-strom-1050-and-v-strom-1050xt-revealed</link>
<description>Suzuki has shown the colour options available on its 2021 V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050XT, with bikes arriving in dealerships now.

Launched last year, the range-topping V-Strom 1050XT which comes complete with three selectable engine maps, traction control with three modes, lean angle-sensitive ABS with two modes, linked brakes with slope and load-dependent control and hill hold, plus cruise control remains available in the popular orange and white, DR750-inspired livery, but for 2021 it is joined by a classy, steely grey with blue decals and blue and grey seat, completed by blue spoked wheels.

An updated yellow option also features, unashamedly influenced by the firms RM-Z motocross range, with a black tank and gold rims. Gold rims also feature on an otherwise all black version, bar subtle grey and gold decals.

The V-Strom 1050 which uses the same 107PS V-twin engine and many of the same electronics features as the XT but swaps the spokes for cast aluminium wheels and loses the standard fit engine bars and hand guards to come in at 9,999 is available in a bold red and black livery.

The new-for-2021 colours on the V-Strom 1050XT also apply to the Tour edition, which adds black three piece aluminium luggage as standard with 112 litres of storage space. With an RRP of 12,799 it equates to a saving of 370 over the purchase of the individual items.

<title>Suzuki announces details of new GSX-S1000</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/suzuki-announces-details-of-new-gsx-s1000</link>
<description>After indicating earlier this month that a new GSX-S1000 was on the way, Suzuki has now released details of the 2021 naked, which comes with:

A completely new look, with sharp, aggressive new bodywork and futuristic LED lighting design.
An updated, Euro 5 compliant 152PS inline four-cylinder engine with a fatter and flatter torque curve, providing a broader spread of power in the low and midrange.
New electronics, including a quickshifter and auto-blipper, selectable engine maps and more levels of traction control.
A larger fuel tank and new, wider set handlebars.

Styling

Immediately obvious is the new GSX-S1000s redesigned aesthetic; the bodywork and lighting is completely new, with a focus on sharp, angular, aggressive lines and a powerful stance, with a mass forward demeanour.

Available in Suzukis traditional metallic triton blue, a new mechanical matt grey, and a stealthy gloss black, its streetfighter looks are enhanced with textured radiator shrouds, MotoGP-inspired winglets, and side panels that feature an urban camo-inspired design.

Arguably the most striking visual change is the new, vertically stacked LED headlight. As well as the practical benefits of a new mono-focus LED light source that displays a wide, bright light, the new design of two stacked hexagonal units topped by LED position lights creates a look that is lighter and tighter, and aids the desire for a more aggressive pose. Theres a new LED tail light, too, with both flanked by LED indicators.

Engine

The inline four-cylinder engine in the 2021 GSX-S1000 produces more power and a broader spread of torque in the lower rev ranges to deliver ideal naked sports bike performance. Changes include a new intake and exhaust camshaft, new valve springs, new clutch, and a new exhaust.

Compared to its predecessor, the new GSX-S1000 makes more cumulative torque across the rev range, filling in the dips in the graph with a flatter curve. It revs on to provide increased top end power, too, with peak power 152PS at 11,000rpm.

Thankfully, a new exhaust retains the soundtrack the outgoing model was known for, while aiding in the increase in power and the meeting of Euro 5 emissions requirements with an additional catalytic converter.

New electronic throttle bodies help achieve a more controllable engine response during the initial throttle opening. A new airbox manages to do without an internal separator, reducing intake resistance.

Reduced valve overlap also helps the new GSX-S1000 meet Euro 5 emissions standards, thanks to new a camshaft and revised cam profiles. The changes also aid engine controllability for the rider.

Added controllability and increased performance also comes thanks to Suzukis Clutch Assist System. The slipper clutch partially disengages to reduce negative engine torque and mitigate the effect of engine braking when downshifting from high rpm. This helps prevent the rear wheel from locking up or hopping and provides smoother deceleration, enabling the rider to shift down with greater confidence and maintain better control when downshifting into corners.

Adding an assist function increases the clutchs clamping force under acceleration and thereby allows the use of softer springs while still efficiently transferring torque to the rear wheel, resulting in a lighter lever operation.

Electronics

An advancement over the previous GSX-S1000 comes with an updated suite of electronics, courtesy of Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS).

A new ride-by-wire throttle makes it possible for riders to more accurately and finely control the relationship between throttle actuation and engine response, especially when allied to the new Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) system, with which the new GSX-S1000 is equipped.

SDMS allows riders to choose from one of three engine maps, depending on the riding conditions or their own personal preferences. Modes A-C all deliver the same peak power, but vary the sharpness and immediacy of the delivery, with A mode the sportiest, and C mode delivering the softest power delivery.

Performance is enhanced thanks to a bi-directional quickshifter, which reduces the need to operate the clutch during gear changes or close the throttle on upshifts, or blip it on downshifts.

A new traction control system comprises five modes, while it can also be switched off. Inputs from front and rear wheel speed sensors, and crank, gear, and throttle position sensors feed into the ECU which in turn controls the throttle valve opening, ignition timing, and fuel injection rate, to reduce or prevent wheel spin.

All the information is displayed on an updated and easy-to-read LCD dash.

Topping off the electronics package is Suzukis always-handy easy start system which requires only one prod of the starter button to fire the engine and low RPM assist, which raises engine speed as the clutch lever is fed out, to aid slow speed control and prevent stalling.

Chassis

The twin-spar aluminium chassis is mated to a rigid, GSX-R-derived swingarm for agile, sporty performance and handling. New, 23mm wider, tapered bars help riders pitch the bike into turns with greater leverage. They are also set 20mm closer to the rider to improve comfort without compromising handling.

Suspension comes in the form of fully-adjustable KYB front forks and a preload and rebound damping adjustable rear shock, with revised settings from the previous iteration. 310mm front discs are paired with Brembo monobloc calipers.

A larger, 19 litre fuel tank and 46.3mpg equates to a tank range of 194 miles. Those miles can be undertaken in greater comfort thanks to a new seat.

Tyres are custom-engineered Roadsport 2 from Dunlop.

    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/new-busa-in-lights-on-cromination-digital-billboard-as-suzuki-launches-nationwide-ad-campaign</link>
<description>Suzuki GB has launched its nationwide Hayabusa ad campaign in spectacular fashion, with the third generation of the legendary hyperbike up in lights on the Cromination billboard, located on Cromwell Road in Earls Court, London. And the display not only showcases the new flagship Hayabusa to potential customers, but it also shines a spotlight on motorcycling for a wider audience, too.

The Cromination is one of the largest billboards in Europe, boasting 72m of screen space, with Suzukis new Hayabusa displayed brightly for over a full week, making it a fitting launch for the Japanese marques new halo machine.

With the new Hayabusa revealed at the beginning of February, the Cromination display was the perfect precursor to a wider integrated national campaign, running across owned, earned, and paid media and including further out-of-home in other major cities.

As units arrive in the country a national press test ride event will maintain momentum for the Hayabusas coverage and media exposure, with bikes arriving in authorised Suzuki dealerships from the end of March.

Ian Bland, Suzuki GB head of marketing, said, The third generation Hayabusa heralds the return of an icon for Suzuki, and it is so widely known, recognised, and revered that its return really warrants a big splash; having it displayed proudly on the biggest drive-by ad platform in Europe is only fitting, and marks just the start of our marketing activity around the new machine. Were ramping up our mainstream media advertising, ensuring it is heavily promoted in motorcycle-centric print and online media, plus via direct mail and email as well as our social channels and further digital billboards. And weve introduced some new functions on our website which allow customers to register their interest or reserve their bike to help keep them informed and enable them to secure one of the first bikes when they arrive. Weve also already hosted an online reveal event for press and customers, and will be continuing our push for editorial media coverage in key sector and non-sector media through a riding launch and other product placement activity throughout the year. Its a really exciting project for a really exciting product.

The third generation Hayabusa manages to maintain the immediately recognisable aerodynamic silhouette that has made the original so iconic, while simultaneously redesigning it to be more angular, sharper, and more aggressive. New pistons, conrods, crankshaft and camshaft join a host of other engine changes to boost the spread of power throughout the lower rev ranges, which, allied to a number of new electronic systems make it the fastest-launching Hayabusa yet.

A three-stage launch control system and a bi-directional quickshifter are also allied to a 10 stage, lean-angle sensitive traction control system, a lean-angle sensitive ABS system which is has linked front and rear brakes, three power modes and four engine brake control settings, plus cruise control and an active speed limiter to give the Hayabusa a comprehensive suite of electronics. A revised chassis saves weight and improves agility and poise.

The original Hayabusa, launched in 1999, gave birth to the hypersport category by delivering unrivalled performance and went on to achieve cult status. The second generation came in 2008 and boosted both capacity and power, while a mid-term update in 2013 added new Brembo calipers and ABS.

<title>‘Busa’s back – Suzuki reveals new Hayabusa for 2021</title>
    <link>https://www.kingstwowheelcentre.co.uk/news/busas-backsuzuki-reveals-new-hayabusa-for-2021</link>
    <description>
Suzuki has announced details of its latest generation Hayabusa, with the new and hotly-anticipated third iteration of the legendary hyperbike coming with over 550 new parts, including:

Iconic and uniquely individual Hayabusa aerodynamic silhouette and styling, but with redesigned wind-cheating bodywork that remains faithful to the Hayabusas unmistakable shape while adding sharper lines and classy details.
A heavily redesigned engine including new pistons, conrods, crankshaft, and camshaft specifically aimed at producing enhanced performance in the lower to mid rev ranges making it the fastest-launching Hayabusa yet.
A comprehensive suite of electronics that includes IMU-governed ABS and traction control, cruise control, launch control, bi-directional quickshifter, engine brake control, three power modes, plus three preset rider modes and three user-defined modes.
A revised chassis, with a new subframe, new brakes, and new suspension settings.

    History

Launched in 1999, the Hayabusa stunned the motorcycling world and gave birth to the hypersport category. Taking its name from the Japanese for Peregrine falcon famed for feasting on blackbirds it delivered unrivalled performance, was immediately recognisable thanks to its now-iconic silhouette, and went on to develop cult status. Its monster engine enabled a smooth, turbine-like power delivery and an eye-widening top-end rush, but also gave it a flexibility and usability rivals could only dream of, while wind tunnel-designed bodywork allowed it to slip through the air effortlessly.

The launch of the second generation Hayabusa in 2008 boosted capacity and power, while a mid-term update in 2013 added Brembo monobloc calipers and ABS, updates that brought the machine firmly into the 21st century, yet remained faithful to the unique styling that has earned the Hayabusa its icon status.

Nearly 200,000 units later a third generation takes all that was right with the genre-defining hyperbike, but leverages the latest technologies to provide greater control and improved comfort to maintain its position as the ultimate sports bike.

    Design

After the launch of the original in 1999, the Hayabusas striking aerodynamic silhouette has become instantly recognisable; nothing looks quite like a Hayabusa.

During the design of the third generation machine the concept of the refined beast made sure that Suzuki designers did not bring about wholesale changes, but instead made sure the latest iteration was still immediately identifiable as a Hayabusa. And 21 years on, still nothing looks quite like a Hayabusa.

Still low, long, and wide, the new generation has faithfully inherited the DNA of its predecessors, but with sharper lines and a tough, modern look that oozes refinement, class, and ultimate performance. It has been brought firmly into the present and future-proofed for the road ahead.

The overall result is a look of higher quality and greater luxury fused with the daunting image of the fierce bird of prey from which it takes its name.

The side profile looks every inch Hayabusa, but the design features straighter, sharper lines, from the new mirror design to the famous seat hump. A fresh face comes from new vertically stacked LED headlights, nestled between the new angular air intakes. New position lights flanking the scoops double up as integrated turn signals.

Great effort was also devoted to designing the straight-edged exhaust and mufflers, that sweep up towards the tail (which itself features new LED rear combination lights) to create a mass-forward look.

Much like the design of the Hayabusas bodywork, the iconic machines clocks are just as much a part of the bikes identity. And much like the bodywork, they too have been redesigned to embrace modern technology in the form of a colour TFT screen while retaining the elements that standout as Hayabusa: the two large dials that flank the new TFT display.

The large analog tachometer and speedometer gain a fresh, more attractive appearance. Features include bigger, bolder numbering that improves legibility, and raised scale markings around the periphery of each meter use LED lighting to provide a clearer view and faster recognition.

The colour TFT screen displays a plethora of information readouts from the new Hayabusas suite of electronics (described in full, below) including the current SDMS- settings or an active data display that shows lean angle (with peak-hold function), front and rear brake pressure, rate of forward/reverse acceleration and the current accelerator position. The panel also shows clock, gear position, odometer, dual trip meter, ambient temperature, instant fuel consumption, riding range, trip time, average fuel consumption, and voltmeter displays. LEDs located in the corners above and below the LCD include the neutral indicator light, turn-signal indicator lights, high-beam indicator light, low oil pressure warning light, traction control indicator, malfunction indicator lamp, master warning indicator, and ABS indicator. There is also an LED engine coolant temperature indicator light in the upper right corner of the engine coolant temperature gauge and fuel indicator light in the upper left corner of the fuel meter gauge. An ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the instrument clusters brightness level based on surrounding conditions, or the rider can also opt to make manual adjustments.

    Engine

During the development of the new Hayabusa many prototypes were evaluated, with many featuring different engine configurations. Engine designer Naoki Mizoguchi explained, We considered a variety of engine configurations before arriving at the final design. Experimentation included building prototypes with larger displacement engines, turbocharged versions, and others with six cylinders. In the end we came to the conclusion that the original engine package achieved the best overall balance. We also came to the conclusion that not changing the basic layout was key to retaining the Hayabusas distinct identity. So we applied the best of its proven qualities when we sat down to set the latest engine design. Our goal was to create a better engine while building on the same proven layout.

As a result of Mizoguchi and the engineers work, the 1340cc, inline-four cylinder engine has undergone extensive reworking, with the aim of boosting performance and improving power and torque in the low and mid-range RPM. The result especially when allied to new performance-enhancing electronics is the fastest-launching Hayabusa yet as well as a more rideable and flexible engine for everyday use, plus added durability and reliability, also.

While the new Hayabusa remains electronically limited to 299km/h (186mph), it outpaces its predecessors off the mark thanks to a flatter torque curve that fills in a flat spot identified in earlier iterations in the lower rev ranges.

That increase in performance, plus the added durability, comes from a number of new or redesigned components. The new Hayabusa uses new, lighter pistons, more rigid and lighter conrods, new camshaft with revised cam profiles to reduce valve lift overlap and new cam chain tensioner, revised crankshaft and crankcases, new gearshift stopper, cam, and cam plate, and gears with revised bearing widths to improve shift feeling, new slipper clutch assembly, and new magneto.

Changes to the combustion chamber promotes faster and more efficient burning of the fuel-air mixture. Further machining on the combustion chamber around the intake valve expands the valve curtain area and improves the flow coefficient by 5% as the valve begins to open and reaches 5mm in lift height.

A new ride-by-wire electronic throttle system works with the new Hayabusas variety of electronic control systems, while also providing a light, natural response with linear control, similar to that of conventional throttle operation. In conjunction with the introduction of this new throttle system, the size of the tapered throttle bodies has changed from 44mm to 43mm, but the overall intake pipe length, (including the intake pipe, throttle body, and funnel), is extended by 12mm over the previous intake system. This contributes to producing greater power output at low and mid-range engine speeds.

Theres also a new side feed fuel injector that places the secondary injector at an angle on the side of the intake funnel. Its spray strikes a reflecting plate in the funnel and creates a fine mist that enters the combustion chamber. The result is again an increase in power and torque output at lower engine speeds.

New air intakes reduce pressure loss and increase flow into a larger airbox, which ups capacity from 10.3 to 11.5 litres, and while retaining the bold, twin muffler design the Hayabusa is known for, a new exhaust system saves over 2kg over the previous system, as a new pipe connecting cylinders one and four helps delivery more bottom end torque. A new two-stage catalytic converter replaces the previous single-stage design to help meet Euro5 emissions standards.

    Electronics

A major leap forward from the second to the third generation Hayabusa comes from a new, comprehensive suite of electronics aimed at improving everything from performance to rider comfort, and safety.

Encompassed within the latest version of Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) is the below:

Suzuki Drive Mode Selector Alpha (SDMS-) featuring a selection of three factory preset and three user definable modes, combining:
Motion Track Traction Control System (10 modes plus off)
Power Mode Selector (three modes)
Bi-directional Quick Shift System (two modes plus off)
Anti-lift Control System (10 modes plus off)
Engine Brake Control System (three modes plus off)
Active Speed Limiter
Launch Control System (three modes)
Emergency Stop Signal
Suzuki Easy Start System
Low RPM Assist
Cruise Control System
Combined Brake System
Motion Track Brake System
Slope Dependent Control System
Hill Hold Control System
Within SDMS- riders have the ability to choose from one of three power modes, with full-power mode one followed by a softer mode two that reduces initial power but still builds to the same peak power, while mode three has a reduced maximum power output.

There are also 10 modes of Motion Track Traction Control from an IMU-controlled system that uses the same technology as Suzukis world championship-winning MotoGP machine and GSX-R1000R. The lean angle-sensitive system takes readings from the IMU, front and rear wheel speed sensors, crank position sensor, throttle position sensor, and gear position sensor to detect a loss of traction before the ECU controls output to the throttle valve, ignition coil, spark plugs, and fuel injectors to limit power. The system can also be turned off.

A further 10 modes of Anti-lift Control help prevent the front wheel from lifting during hard acceleration. The higher the setting the greater amount of control supplied. It, too, can be disabled.

A race-derived bi-directional quickshifter allows riders to shift up with the throttle wide open and without operating the clutch, while the need to blip the throttle on downshifts is also eradicated. Two modes mean riders can choose from a more race and performance orientated response, or a mode that responds to a lighter touch.

To further personalise the Hayabusas advanced electronic systems riders can manage the effective strength of the engine braking to match their preference. There are three additional settings to choose from, as well as the default off, whereby the higher the setting the more the effect of the engine braking is suppressed.

As part of SDMS- come three factory preset rider modes Active, Basic, and Comfort with each using a combination of allotted settings for the above systems. Active uses the full power engine map, with traction control and anti-lift set to one out of 10 and the quickshifter on its raciest setting. Basic uses the same quickshifter setting but the softer throttle response with traction control and anti-lift set in the middle, at mode five of 10. Comfort sees those upped to 10, with the engine mapping set to its softest setting with reduced peak power, and the softer quickshifter setting. All three modes use the default engine brake control system setting.

However, three user-defined settings allow riders to tailor the settings to their own preferences and needs based on their experience or the riding conditions.

The new Hayabusas electronics suite is further bolstered by a launch control system with three modes that allow riders to limit engine RPM to 4,000, 6,000, or 8,000 RPM before launching, depending on their confidence or experience.

Cruise control allows riders to set their desired speed on longer journeys. With the system activated via a button on the right hand switchgear and the speed set and adjusted using buttons on the left, riders can release the twist grip and continue onwards at their preferred speed. The result is reduced fatigue and increased comfort. The system can be overridden with a touch of the brakes or by reopening the throttle. Owners can also set their preferred speed via a new speed limiter function, ensuring the motorcycle will not exceed that speed during operation. However, it too can be overridden by a quick twist of the throttle to allow riders to make overtakes or escape danger.

An intelligent braking system sees the third generation Hayabusa equipped with lean angle-sensitive ABS, helping riders track the intended line even when the brakes are applied mid-corner, plus linked brakes mean pressure is automatically applied to the rear brake when the front brake lever is operated, improving stopping performance.

The system also identifies when the brakes are being applied on a descent, with the ABS unit using input from the IMU to monitor the bikes posture, before optimising front brake pressure to prevent rear wheel lift. The IMU also enables the new Hayabusas hill hold function, which automatically engages the rear brake for 30 seconds once the motorcycle comes to a stop facing uphill, even if the rider releases the brake lever or pedal. This helps ensure a smoother restart free of worries that the bike will roll backward.

Suzukis easy start system and low RPM assist functions also feature, meaning the engine fires with one brush of the starter button and the engine speed is automatically raised as the clutch lever is released to aid slow speed control and prevent stalling. A new emergency stop signal flashes the turn indicator lights when the brakes are suddenly and sharply applied to warn traffic in the immediate vicinity.

    Chassis

Hayabusa has always been known for its remarkable combination of high-speed stability and its planted feel alongside surprising agility and nimbleness. As a result, Suzuki engineers focussed on evolving the existing chassis setup to build on the proven base, as opposed to ringing the changes unnecessarily.

The tried and tested twin-spar aluminium frame uses extruded aluminium sections which lend the right amount of suppleness and strength, achieving a better overall balance. A new subframe reduces weight by 700g.

A new setup of the fully adjustable front and rear suspension units help improve the bikes stability at speed as well as its ability to turn, and also deliver improved grip from the specially-designed Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tyres.

Mounted to new seven-spoke wheels are bigger 320mm discs up front, with improved stopping power also coming from Brembo Stylema calipers.

Longer journeys on the new Hayabusa are not only made easier thanks to the extensive electronics package, but changes to the bikes ergonomics see the bars brought closer to the rider by 12mm, aiding rider comfort while ensuring the rider remains directly connected to the front wheel.
